Owing to his 12 years of expertise and experience, the goal at Uday – The Beginning, a renowned Nasha Mukti Kendra, was to help persons suffering from drug and alcohol addiction recover physically, emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually. Together, they set up the first-of-its-kind Therapeutic Community in India within a rehabilitation centre to offer de-addiction centre treatment and psychiatric services in a model never used before. While other treatments available at that time only addressed the physical aspect of the disease, limited to withdrawal management, Uday began to fix the root cause of this disease, without providing any mood-altering substance as a substitute to the patient’s drug of choice.
